Although the museum opened its doors in 1998, the building is a historical monument. This is the Fondouk Nejjarine, a former trading place built in 1711, under the orders of Sultan Moulay Ismail. The building is at present a UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses the famous Nejjarine Museum.
The Nejjarine Museum, therefore, exhibits many wooden objects of the daily life of Moroccans (past and present): musical instruments, weapons, kitchen utensils...
